This is a 1936 Zenith 9 tube model 9S55, one of Zenith’s best collectable years. The large black dial is in very nice shape. This cabinet definately has that "empire"(skyscraper) look with that nice bottom border as a strikeing foundation. This particular model has a small footprint, with a tall & lean look to it. The cabinets’ book matched walnut veneer is beautifully restored with a flawless lacquer finish and toned lacquer color trim. The grille cloth is a reproduction of the 1936 pattern found on these models.

This beautiful 1938, Zenith’s most famous and collectible year, is a 9S244 chairside. It is sporting the fabulous “Motor Drive Robot Shutter Dial” and green tuning eye. I purchased this radio from a long time work friend. His plans were to leave it to his kids. His grandfather purchased it new in Cottonwood Arizona. His children did not want it. He knew they would just trash it. As a promises to my friend, who has now passed away, I would never sell it. It will stay with me.

Pictured to the right is a 9S324. Zenith for 4 years made some very large table radios. The chassis is the same used in a console. Zenith installed 7, 8, 9, 10 and 12 tube console chassis in these table sets. Very powerful radios driving an 8 inch speaker. Kind of over kill. These radios are uncommon today. I am sure Zenith made very few. They were not very good sellers. As a table radio they took up too much space. Now they are highly collectible. This was Zenith first year for automatic push button tuning. Coin named "Radiorgan". Zenith claimed 64 tone variation from the push-pull tone control.
