1937 Zenith Tombstone tube radio 10S130

$2,500.00

This is a Zenith top of the line tombstone for 1937 model 10S130, one of Zenith’s most famous and collectable years. It is sporting the fabulous “Black Dial” and target tuning. This is one of the largest table radio Zenith ever made. This is a stunning and near perfect restoration.

Cabinet: The book matched walnut veneered cabinet is beautifully finished with a near flawless lacquer finish. Every effort was taken to reproduce original look of this radio. The cabinet was finished using Mohawk sealer and lacquers. Wood repairs were made as necessary. Tone lacquer was used on the trim wood to keep with the original appearance. The grille cloth is a reproduction of the original cloth that came with the radio from the factory.

Dial/Knobs: The Zenith "Black Dial" is in mint condition as is the dial glass. The tuner moves in both directions with ease. The original Zenith wood knobs are also present. No reproductions.

Electronics/Chassis/Cord: The 10 tube Superheterodyne chassis is a performer and plays full dial scale, loud and clear. The radio has had a complete recap electronic restoration; all the electrolytic caps were replaced with new production parts. All the paper foil capacitors were replaced as well. All original tube shields are in place. The dial belt is new for smooth operation and tuning. The radio has very nice reception with no hum. The chassis has been aligned and adjusted for optimum performance. An outside antenna is necessary on old tube radios or a long wire. A new power cord was installed for safety. The speaker is the original Zenith and re-coned. The chassis is also an export model. Notice the larger transformer and cover on the back of the chassis to adjust the voltage. The chassis has also had an audio jack installed and uses the original phono switch. It is so an audio signal from a stereo, IPod, CD player, phonograph, or any other source can be played thru the radio.
