1940 Zenith model 10S470 SOLD!!!

$1,400.00

Absolutely a beautiful console! This is a 1940 Zenith 10 tube model 10S470 commonly called by collectors “Poor man's Stratosphere”, one of Zenith’s most famous and collectable years. It is sporting the fabulous “green tuning eye tube”. The Art Deco cabinet design of this radio has one of the best sounds. The cabinet’s unique design really contributes its overall sound quality. The antenna box is on a track that takes it from one side to the other. This radio plays as good as it looks and will fill your home with voice and music.

Cabinet: The cabinets’ book matched walnut veneer is beautifully restored with a lacquer finish and toned lacquer color trim. Every effort was made to reproduce the cabinets’ original look as it came from the factory. Wood repairs were made as necessary. 43"H x 26"W.

Electronics/Chassis/Cord: The 10 tube Superhetrodyne chassis is a performer and plays full dial scale, loud and clear. The radio has had a complete recap electronic restoration, all the electrolytic caps were replaced with new production parts. All the wax paper foil capacitors were replaced as well. The dial belt is new and smooth moving. The radio has very nice reception with no hum. A NOS (new) green eye tube was installed to dress up the playing experience. An outside antenna is NOT necessary on this radio. A new power cord was installed for safety.
