Zenith Walton 9S232 SOLD!!

$3,500.00

This is a 1938 Zenith 9 tube Walton model 9S232, Zenith’s most famous and collectable year. It is sporting the fabulous “Motor Drive Robot Shutter Dial” and green tuning eye. The large black dial is in very nice shape.  The cabinets’ book matched walnut veneer is beautifully restored with a flawless lacquer finish and toned lacquer color trim. The wood pattern / grain is one of the best I have ever seen on a Walton. The grille cloth is a reproduction of the original 1938 pattern. The knobs are the original wood Zenith knobs, no reproductions here. The Superheterodyne chassis is a performer and plays full dial scale, loud and clear. The radio has had a complete recap electronic restoration - all the electrolytic caps were replaced with new production parts. All the paper foil capacitors were replaced as well. The dial belts are new for smooth motor operation and tuning. As you see from the pictures the chassis is clean and only minor rust. The radio has very nice reception with no hum. A brand-new NOS green eye tube, 6E5 was installed to dress up its playing appearance. The chassis is also one of the rarest, or unusual produced with a factory installed light at the top of the dial. An outside antenna is necessary on old tube radios or a long wire. But it also plays perfectly on a short lead wire as well. A new power cord was installed for safety. For you radio collectors this radio is a matching number radio. The stamps on the chassis, speaker and cabinet are present. The stamp on the top cabinet back is very faint and stamped very low but is there. The serial numbers match from the paper tag on the bottom of the cabinet to the metal tag on the back of the chassis. So, if you’re looking for a number match, this radio is for you. If you want a Walton, and you want a 9 tuber and you care about numbers… Here it is…
